Extreme Heat Persists as Punjab Weather Stays Unbearably Hot

Islamabad, April 5, 2025 – The province of Punjab is expected to continue experiencing unusually hot and dry weather in the coming days, as per the latest advisory issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The ongoing heatwave conditions are forecast to intensify, particularly in the southern districts, where day temperatures are projected to remain significantly above the seasonal average.

According to the PMD, the current synoptic situation shows that continental air is dominating most parts of the country, preventing any significant moisture influx or cooling effects from prevailing. This atmospheric pattern is contributing to persistent heat and dry weather conditions across the region, especially in Punjab.

Saturday Weather Outlook for Punjab

For Saturday, the PMD has predicted hot and dry weather across most districts of Punjab, including both central and southern parts of the province. The southern districts, in particular, will bear the brunt of this heatwave, with temperatures expected to stay 2 to 4°C above normal levels. The weather will remain largely stable but uncomfortable, with no chance of rainfall.

In addition, dry weather is forecast for Kashmir, where temperatures are expected to be closer to seasonal averages, though still on the warmer side.

Sunday Weather Forecast for Punjab

The weather pattern on Sunday is expected to remain consistent with Saturday. The PMD predicts that hot and dry weather will continue to prevail across most of Punjab. Daytime temperatures will remain elevated in the southern belt, again exceeding the normal range by 2 to 4°C.

Residents across Punjab are advised to take precautions against heat-related health issues, particularly the old-age, children, and outdoor workers. Authorities may issue additional alerts if the weather conditions worsen or persist for a prolonged period.

The PMD will continue to monitor the weather developments and issue timely updates. Meanwhile, citizens of Punjab are urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and follow safety advisories to cope with the ongoing hot spell.
