ISLAMABAD, September 15, 2026: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has approved an exemption from duties and taxes on imported bulletproof vehicles required for security arrangements during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and counter-terrorism operations.
The measure is aimed at strengthening national security, protecting visiting state guests and ensuring secure transportation during high-profile international events.
The exemption will also facilitate the tax-free import of strategically important bulletproof vehicles for deployment in high-risk and conflict-prone areas as part of counter-terrorism efforts.
The decision follows the approval of funds by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for the procurement of bulletproof vehicles through a technical supplementary grant.
According to the official announcement, the vehicles are required to ensure foolproof security arrangements for heads of state and other high-profile dignitaries attending important international engagements.
