FBR Implements Senior Customs Officers Transfers in BS-20 and BS-21

Islamabad, August 8, 2023 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has executed a series of transfers among senior officers of the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) in BS-20 and BS-21 on Tuesday.

This move comes as part of FBR’s broader strategy to restructure the administration of Pakistan Customs in the wake of a major corruption scandal and administrative inefficiencies.

The reshuffling of senior officers aims to bring about a more efficient and effective administration within the Pakistan Customs Service, addressing challenges that have emerged over time.

Here are the key changes in postings:

1. Wajid Ali (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21): Serving as the Director General of the Directorate General of Transit Trade, Karachi, Wajid Ali has been assigned the additional responsibility of Director General of the Customs Academy of Pakistan (CAP), Karachi. This additional charge is part of his efforts to enhance the training and professional development of customs officials.

2. Abdul Qadir Memon (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21): Abdul Qadir Memon has been transferred from his position as Director General of the Customs Academy of Pakistan (CAP), Karachi, to become the Chief Collector of Customs for Balochistan at the Custom House in Quetta. This change aims to inject new leadership into the Balochistan Customs sector.

3. Muhammad Saleem (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-21): Muhammad Saleem, previously the Chief Collector of Customs for Balochistan, Custom House in Quetta, has been moved to the role of Chief Collector of Customs for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Custom House in Peshawar. This strategic transfer aims to strengthen the customs operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

4. Fayyaz Anwar (Pakistan Customs Service/BS-20): Fayyaz Anwar, formerly Chief Collector of Customs for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Custom House in Peshawar, has now taken on the role of Member (OPS) at the Federal Board of Revenue (HQ) in Islamabad. This shift reflects a focus on operational leadership within FBR’s headquarters.

The FBR clarified that officers who were receiving performance allowances prior to the issuance of this notification will continue to receive those allowances at their new places of posting.
