Three BS-16 officials placed under suspension following arrests by FIA Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended three customs officials of the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Islamabad, following their arrests by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to an FBR notification, the three BS-16 officials have been placed under suspension under Article 194 of the Civil Service Regulations (CSR), with their suspension taking effect from the dates of their respective arrests by FIA Islamabad.

The suspended officials are Superintendent Fakhar Iqbal, whose suspension is effective from August 6, 2026; Inspector Shahzaib Ali, suspended with effect from August 5, 2026; and Inspector Kristopher Waris, whose suspension is effective from August 6, 2026.

The FBR said the disciplinary action has been taken in connection with the arrests made by the FIA.

The officials belong to the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Islamabad, which falls under the customs wing of the revenue authority.

Suspensions effective from arrest dates

The suspensions will remain subject to the applicable rules and regulations governing disciplinary proceedings against government officials.

The FBR notification formally places the three officials under suspension from the dates of their arrests, pending further proceedings in accordance with the relevant service rules.

The development comes as revenue and law-enforcement authorities continue to take action against officials facing allegations of misconduct.

The FIA’s investigation and subsequent proceedings will determine the nature of the allegations and the legal consequences, if any.

The case highlights continued scrutiny of customs officials as authorities seek to strengthen accountability and address allegations of misconduct within revenue and enforcement institutions.
