FBR Transfers 44 Senior IRS Officers in Major Overhaul

Islamabad, March 15, 2024 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has undertaken a significant restructuring by transferring 44 senior officers of the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) in a major reshuffle announced on Friday.

The reshuffle involves officers ranging from BS-19 to BS-21 and holds crucial importance in revenue collection operations. Notably, these officers play pivotal roles in achieving revenue targets set by the government.

This overhaul comes at a critical juncture for the FBR as it grapples with the formidable task of meeting revenue collection goals, particularly amidst the ongoing visit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) team for the second review of the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA).

The timing of these transfers coincides with the recent change in government leadership, suggesting that the decisions may have been influenced by higher authorities to align with new strategic priorities.

Among the notable transfers are:

1. Dr. Tauqeer Ahmad Memon (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), formerly serving as Director General at the Directorate General of Broadening of Tax Base Federal Board of Revenue (HQ) in Islamabad, has been appointed as Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at the Regional Tax Office in Sukkur.

2. Muhammad Abid Raza Bodla (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), previously Chief Commissioner at the Regional Tax Office in Sukkur, now assumes the role of Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at the Regional Tax Office in Bahawalpur.

3. Muhammad Tariq Arbab (Inland Revenue Service/BS-21), currently serving as Director General at the Directorate General of Withholding Taxes Federal Board of Revenue (HQ) in Islamabad, has been assigned the additional charge of Director General at the Directorate General of Broadening of Tax Base (BTB), Federal Board of Revenue (HQ), in accordance with regulations.

4. Ms. Laila Ghafoor (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20), previously serving as Chief Commissioner at the Regional Tax Office in Bahawalpur, has been appointed as Director General (OPS) at the Directorate General of Anti Benami Initiatives in Islamabad (stationed at Lahore).

5. Ms. Shazia Abid (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20), formerly Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals-IV) in Karachi, now assumes the role of Director at the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue) in Karachi.
