Chief Justice reviews progress on e-filing and digitization initiative aimed at creating a faster, more efficient, and technology-driven judicial system.
The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) has taken another significant step toward modernizing the country’s judicial system by reviewing the progress of its E-Filing System and judicial case file digitization project.
The initiative is part of the Court’s long-term strategy to establish a secure, efficient, and technology-enabled paperless judicial environment.
A progress review meeting was chaired by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan and attended by Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, Registrar Muhammad Hafeez Ullah Khan, senior judicial officers, and information technology officials responsible for implementing the digital transformation programme.
Digital Transformation Takes Center Stage
During the meeting, the Director General (IT) presented an overview of the Court’s digital transformation roadmap, highlighting milestones achieved in implementing modern technology across judicial operations.
IT officials also demonstrated the functioning of the E-Filing System and showcased the ongoing process of converting physical judicial records into digital files.
Registrar Muhammad Hafeez Ullah Khan explained that the initiative is expected to improve court administration by reducing paperwork, streamlining workflows, and enhancing institutional efficiency through digital processes.
Pilot Project for Paperless Judicial Records
Participants were informed that the FCCP has already launched a pilot project to digitize judicial case files.
The programme is being jointly managed by the Judicial Wing and the Directorate of Information Technology, with teams scanning, digitally indexing, and securely uploading court records into the Court’s Case Flow Management System (CFMS).
To improve the accessibility of records, the project incorporates Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, enabling quick searching, indexing, and retrieval of digital documents while reducing dependence on traditional paper files.
Chief Justice Calls for Continued Innovation
Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan commended the Judicial Wing and IT Directorate for their efforts in advancing the digitization programme.
He directed officials to conduct a practical inspection of the project next week to assess its operational progress and identify areas for further improvement.
The Chief Justice emphasized that the Federal Constitutional Court should continue introducing innovative institutional reforms capable of setting new standards within Pakistan’s justice sector.
He stressed that reforms implemented today should create lasting institutional value by making judicial procedures more efficient, transparent, accessible, and convenient for future generations.
Commitment to Modern Judicial Services
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by the Federal Constitutional Court to continue its digital transformation agenda.
Court officials reaffirmed their determination to modernize judicial administration through technology, improve case management, and enhance the quality and accessibility of judicial services for litigants and legal practitioners across Pakistan.
