KARACHI: The first meeting of reconstituted Ninth National Finance Commission (NFC) will be held on February 06, 2019, sources said on Monday.
According to details the first meeting of reconstituted 9th NFC had been scheduled on February 06, 2019 in Islamabad.
The current fiscal position will be discussed and presentations will be made by the finance division of federal government, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi recently re-constituted the NFC, which consists of 10 members.
A notification issued by the Finance Division stated that the federal finance minister has been nominated as chairman of the NFC. While all finance minister of provincial governments are appointed as members.
Further four economists have been included in the commission to represent the provinces. Dr. Salman Shah will represent Punjab, Asad Syed (Sindh), Muhsarraf Rasool Cyan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), and Mahfooz Ali Kha (Balochistan).
The federal finance secretary will represent as official expert to the commission.
The sources said that resolution of jurisdiction disputes, harmonization of tax coding mechanism and designing uniformity of methodology for taxation of interprovincial services would be discussed.
Besides, enhancement in collection of agriculture income tax by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and capacity building of provinces would also be discussed.
