Foreign direct investment falls by 19.2pc in July-December

KARACHI: The inflow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Pakistan fell by 19.2 percent during first half (July – December) of the current fiscal year, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Wednesday.

 

 

The net FDI was recorded at $1.32 billion during first half of the current fiscal year as compared with $1.63 billion in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

The portfolio investment in the equity market registered decline of 217 percent during the period under review.

The outflow of portfolio investment during July – December 2018 was $419.8 million as against outflows of $132.4 million.

The total foreign private investment registered decline of 40 percent to $899.4 million during first half of the current fiscal year as compared with $1.5 billion in the same period of the last fiscal year.
