Fitrana Rates Announced for Ramadan 2025

Karachi, February 20, 2025 – The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), represented by Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, officially announced the Fitrana and Fidya rates for Ramadan 2025. These rates determine the obligatory charity amount every Muslim must pay before Eid-ul-Fitr to assist those in need.

Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr. Naeemi stated that individuals using government-subsidized flour could fulfill their Fitrana or Fidya obligation by paying Rs160 per person.

However, the general minimum Fitrana and Fidya amount has been set at Rs220 per person.

Fitrana Rates Based on Different Commodities

• Wheat: Rs220 per person

• Barley: Rs450 per person

• Dates: Rs1,650 per person

• Raisins: Rs2,500 per person

• Dried Grapes (Munakka): Rs5,000 per person

Chairman The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Dr. Naeemi emphasized that individuals who are financially well-off should not limit themselves to the minimum Fitrana amount but instead contribute according to their means. This ensures greater assistance for those struggling financially and upholds the spirit of Ramadan’s charity obligations. He further reiterated that Fitrana is mandatory for all Muslims, regardless of age, gender, or financial standing, making it a fundamental aspect of Ramadan.

Fidya Rates for Those Unable to Fast

For individuals unable to observe fasts due to chronic illness or other valid reasons, the Fidya for 30 days of missed fasting has been structured as follows:

• Wheat: Rs6,600

• Barley: Rs13,500

• Dates: Rs49,500

• Raisins: Rs75,000

• Dried Grapes (Munakka): Rs150,000

Additionally, Dr. Naeemi clarified that Kaffarah (expiation) for deliberately breaking a fast requires either continuous fasting for 60 days or feeding 60 underprivileged individuals two meals per day.

As Ramadan approaches, Dr. Naeemi urged all eligible Muslims to pay their Fitrana in a timely manner, ensuring that the funds reach deserving families before Eid-ul-Fitr. He reiterated that Fitrana not only fulfills a religious duty but also strengthens the bonds of community support by aiding the needy during the holy month.
