Gold prices decrease by Rs3,600 in two days

Local gold rates fall for a second consecutive session as international bullion prices also decline.

Gold prices in Pakistan continued their downward trend on Wednesday, September 23, with the price of 24-karat gold falling by Rs1,800 per tola to Rs453,936, according to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA).

The latest decline means gold prices have decreased by Rs3,600 per tola over the past two sessions, extending the recent weakness in the local bullion market.

24-Karat Gold Price Falls

The price of 24-karat gold declined to Rs453,936 per tola, compared with Rs455,736 at the previous session’s close.

The decline was also reflected in the 10-gram category. The price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs1,544, bringing the latest rate to Rs389,176 per 10 grams from Rs390,720 previously.

The latest movement follows a Rs1,800 per tola decline in the previous session, contributing to the total two-day fall of Rs3,600.

International Gold Prices Decline

International gold prices also moved lower during the session, providing a corresponding backdrop to the decline in Pakistan’s local market.

The international price of gold decreased by $18 per ounce to $4,314, compared with the previous session’s closing price of $4,332.

The decline in global bullion prices was reflected in the domestic market, where both per-tola and 10-gram rates recorded further losses.

Market participants continue to monitor movements in international gold prices alongside local market conditions for direction on domestic bullion rates.
