Domestic bullion prices fall sharply as international gold declines by $37 an ounce amid renewed Middle East tensions.
KARACHI, August 19, 2026: Gold prices in Pakistan plunged by Rs3,700 per tola on Wednesday, following a sharp decline in international bullion prices amid renewed tensions in the Middle East.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association, the price of 24-karat gold fell to Rs458,236 per tola, down from the previous day’s closing price of Rs461,936.
The price of 24-karat gold also declined by Rs3,172 per 10 grams, falling to Rs392,863 from Rs396,035 a day earlier.
International gold prices fall
The decline in Pakistan’s domestic bullion market followed a drop in international gold prices.
Bullion market experts attributed the movement to fresh tensions in the Middle East, which pushed international oil prices higher and weighed on gold prices.
International gold fell by $37 per ounce, dropping to $4,358 from the previous day’s close of $4,395.
The decline in the international bullion market was reflected in Pakistan, resulting in a substantial reduction in domestic gold prices.
Gold prices remain sensitive to global developments
The latest movement highlights the sensitivity of Pakistan’s gold market to changes in international bullion prices and global geopolitical developments.
With international gold prices declining sharply on Wednesday, domestic prices followed the downward trend, bringing the price of 24-karat gold below the Rs460,000-per-tola level.
