24-karat gold reaches Rs431,736 per tola as international bullion prices climb $40 per ounce
KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan surged by Rs4,000 per tola on Sunday, July 26, 2026, tracking a sharp rise in international bullion markets despite easing geopolitical tensions following reports of a potential peace agreement between the United States and Iran.
According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA), the price of 24-karat gold increased to Rs431,736 per tola, compared with Rs427,736 in the previous trading session.
The price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams also rose significantly by Rs3,430 to Rs370,144, up from Rs366,714 a day earlier.
International gold prices rally
The rally in Pakistan’s bullion market mirrored gains in international prices, where spot gold advanced by $40 per ounce to $4,093, compared with $4,053 in the previous session.
The increase in global gold prices provided strong support to Pakistan’s bullion market, with local rates closely following international trends and movements in the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
Safe-haven demand supports bullion
Gold prices have remained highly volatile in recent weeks as investors continue to assess developments in the Middle East, shifting expectations for global interest rates and broader economic uncertainty.
Although reports of renewed diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran have eased some geopolitical concerns, the precious metal continued to attract buying interest from investors seeking safe-haven assets amid lingering global economic and geopolitical risks.
Analysts said expectations regarding future interest rate decisions by major central banks, particularly the US Federal Reserve, also remained a key driver of international gold prices. Lower interest rate expectations generally support bullion by reducing the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets such as gold.
Outlook
Market experts said domestic gold prices are expected to remain sensitive to fluctuations in international bullion prices, geopolitical developments and movements in the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
Investors will closely monitor upcoming global economic data, central bank policy signals and developments in the Middle East, as these factors are likely to determine the direction of gold prices in Pakistan and international markets in the coming sessions.
