Gold prices plunge Rs4,300 in Pakistan on July 28 amid global sell-off

24-karat gold falls to Rs427,436 per tola as international bullion prices drop $43 per ounce

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a sharp decline on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with the price of 24-karat gold falling by Rs4,300 per tola, following a significant drop in international bullion markets.

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA), the price of 24-karat gold decreased to Rs427,436 per tola, down from Rs431,736 in the previous trading session.

Similarly, the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams fell by Rs3,687 to Rs366,457, compared with Rs370,144 a day earlier.

International gold prices tumble

The decline in Pakistan’s bullion market mirrored losses in global gold prices. In the international market, spot gold dropped by $43 per ounce to $4,050, down from $4,093 in the previous session.

The fall in international prices weighed on the domestic bullion market, where local gold rates closely track global price movements along with fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate.

Easing tensions weigh on bullion

Bullion dealers said easing geopolitical concerns and profit-taking in international markets contributed to the decline in gold prices after the precious metal had rallied strongly in recent sessions. Improved investor appetite for risk assets also reduced demand for traditional safe-haven investments such as gold.

Market participants also pointed to expectations surrounding global interest rate policies, which continue to influence investor demand for precious metals. A stronger US dollar and improving risk sentiment often reduce the appeal of gold, while expectations of lower interest rates generally provide support to bullion prices.

Outlook

Despite the latest decline, gold prices remain at historically elevated levels, reflecting ongoing uncertainty in the global economy and financial markets.

Analysts expect the domestic gold market to remain volatile in the coming days, with prices likely to continue tracking international bullion trends, geopolitical developments, central bank policy signals and movements in the rupee-dollar exchange rate.
