Domestic bullion market tracks sharp international gains with gold hitting Rs449,236 per tola on August 6.
KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan extended their record-breaking rally on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, with the price of the precious metal surging by Rs11,300 per tola in a single day, taking the cumulative increase over the past two trading sessions to Rs21,300.
According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA), the price of 24-karat gold climbed to Rs449,236 per tola, up from Rs437,936 recorded in the previous trading session.
The price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams also registered a sharp increase of Rs9,688, reaching Rs385,147, compared with Rs375,459 a day earlier.
The strong rally in Pakistan’s bullion market mirrored a significant jump in international gold prices, where spot gold surged by $113 per ounce to $4,268, up from $4,155 in the previous session.
The sharp rise in global bullion prices was swiftly reflected in domestic gold rates, as Pakistan’s gold market generally follows international price movements after adjusting for the exchange rate and local market factors.
With Wednesday’s increase, gold has gained Rs21,300 per tola in just two trading sessions, highlighting the strong momentum in both local and global bullion markets.
Market experts said international gold prices remained well supported by increased demand for safe-haven assets, with investors closely monitoring global economic developments, interest rate expectations and geopolitical uncertainties. Higher global prices, combined with local market dynamics, pushed domestic gold rates to fresh highs.
Jewellers said the rapid increase in prices may temporarily dampen retail demand, particularly for jewellery purchases, as consumers wait for prices to stabilize. However, investment demand for gold is expected to remain firm if international bullion prices continue their upward trajectory.
Analysts noted that future movements in Pakistan’s gold market will largely depend on trends in international bullion prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate and developments in global financial markets.
