Gold prices surge Rs26,400 in three-day rally

Domestic bullion market extends gains as international gold climbs above $4,300 per ounce.

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan continued their record-breaking rally on Friday, August 7, 2026, with the precious metal gaining Rs5,100 per tola in a single day, taking the cumulative increase over the past three trading sessions to Rs26,400.

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA), the price of 24-karat gold climbed to Rs454,336 per tola, up from Rs449,236 recorded in the previous trading session.

The price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams also posted a sharp increase of Rs4,372, reaching Rs389,519, compared with Rs385,147 a day earlier.

The rally in Pakistan’s bullion market mirrored a strong surge in international gold prices, where spot gold rose by $51 per ounce to $4,319, compared with $4,268 in the previous session.

The sustained increase in global bullion prices has continued to drive domestic gold rates higher, with Pakistan’s gold market closely tracking international price movements after accounting for exchange rate fluctuations and local market conditions.

Over the past three trading sessions, gold prices in Pakistan have climbed by Rs26,400 per tola, marking one of the sharpest short-term rallies in recent months. The continued upward momentum reflects strong demand for safe-haven assets in global markets amid heightened economic uncertainty and evolving geopolitical developments.

Bullion dealers said the sharp increase is likely to weigh on jewellery demand in the domestic market, as higher prices may discourage retail buyers. However, investment demand for gold is expected to remain firm if international prices continue their upward trajectory.

Market analysts noted that future movements in gold prices will depend on developments in global financial markets, central bank policy expectations, geopolitical events and the rupee-dollar exchange rate, all of which influence domestic bullion prices.
