Google Chromecast with Google TV Finally Gets Gemini AI Upgrade

IT & Telecom

Google is rapidly expanding Gemini across nearly all of its products, from smartphones to smart TVs. The company has been aggressively integrating its AI assistant into major platforms, and Google TV is among the latest to receive the upgrade. While Gemini first appeared on the Google TV Streamer last year, users of older streaming hardware had been left waiting for months.

Now, it appears that Google has finally started enabling Gemini on the original Chromecast with Google TV 4K models, bringing new AI-powered features to the aging streaming device.

Gemini Arrives on Chromecast with Google TV 4K

Reports from users suggest that Gemini is now rolling out to the 4K version of the Chromecast with Google TV (CCwGTV). According to X user @joelenington, Gemini appeared on his device running firmware version UTTC.250917.004 with the October 2025 security patch installed.

Several users have also confirmed spotting Gemini on their own 4K Chromecast devices in recent days. Interestingly, the feature was reportedly absent just a week earlier, indicating that Google may have quietly started a wider server-side rollout.

The update marks an important step for Chromecast owners, especially after concerns that Google could gradually phase out support for older streaming hardware.

HD Chromecast Models Still Waiting

At the moment, Gemini has only been confirmed on the original 4K Chromecast with Google TV. There are still no widespread reports of the AI assistant appearing on the HD-only version of the device.

However, this does not necessarily mean the HD model will be left behind permanently. Google often rolls out software features in phases, meaning support for the HD Chromecast could arrive later.

Users are advised to keep their devices updated with the latest firmware and security patches to improve the chances of receiving Gemini once the rollout expands further.

Positive News for Chromecast Users

The Gemini rollout arrives at a time when many Chromecast users have been worried about the future of Google’s streaming hardware lineup. Recent reports about older Chromecast models losing support and security updates created uncertainty among users.

Despite those concerns, the addition of Gemini to the Chromecast with Google TV 4K offers some reassurance that Google still plans to enhance its existing streaming ecosystem with modern AI-powered features.
