Google rolls out Android 17 Beta 3 with new Quick Settings customization

The latest Android 17 beta introduces a redesigned Quick Settings Editor, expanded interface options and new protection against call-forwarding scams.

Google has released Android 17 Beta 3, also known as QPR2 Beta 3, for eligible Pixel devices, bringing a range of bug fixes, new features and customisation options ahead of the operating system’s final release.

One of the most notable changes in the update is a redesigned Quick Settings Editor, which gives users greater control over the arrangement of toggles and settings.

The new editor allows users to organise Quick Settings tiles according to their preferences. Users can also choose which tiles appear in a larger format, providing additional flexibility over the layout.

Google has introduced further customisation options for the interface, including the ability to change the position of the brightness slider and media player.

Reports suggest Google is also working on additional themes and interface customisation features for the final version of Android 17. These could include options for adjusting colour shades and adding more blur effects to different parts of the user interface.

Another significant addition in Android 17 Beta 3 focuses on call protection. Google has introduced new measures designed to help protect users from social engineering scams involving call forwarding.

Under the new system, users may see additional verification prompts when attempting to dial numbers associated with call forwarding. The feature is intended to reduce the risk of calls being redirected to another number without the user’s knowledge.

The QPR2 Beta 3 update is currently available to eligible Pixel devices enrolled in Google’s beta programme.

As testing continues, Google is expected to introduce further changes and improvements before the final release of Android 17. Some features included in the beta are still being tested, meaning their availability or functionality could change before the stable version arrives.
