Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has ignited speculation regarding her rumored split from actor Paul Mescal after making an enigmatic comment about relationships in a recent interview.
Speaking with Cosmopolitan magazine, the That’s So True singer shared her perspective on what defines a healthy romantic relationship.
“What I love about a healthy relationship is that your life doesn’t radically change,” Abrams explained. “You just fit into each other in a way that feels positively challenging and deeply supportive—it’s like a place to land.”
Her remarks have only added fuel to breakup rumors, especially as she made no mention of Mescal when discussing her upcoming Valentine’s Day plans.
“I will be touring in Germany, but I actually have a few days off,” Abrams revealed. “My plan right now is to fly to Paris, and hopefully, my producer Aaron Dessner and I will write a song we love in his studio in France.”
She further hinted at her emotions, adding, “All of my songs are love letters in one way or another, so that’s my Valentine.”
Speculation over their potential breakup first arose when Mescal, known for his role in Gladiator II, was reportedly seen at a popular North London restaurant looking visibly distressed. According to sources, he had his “head in his hands” while Abrams sat across from him in tears before abruptly leaving.
Abrams and Mescal were first linked romantically in June 2024 when they were spotted dining together in London. Their relationship seemed to become official when they made a high-profile red-carpet debut at the Gladiator II premiere in November 2024.
Neither Abrams nor Mescal has officially commented on the rumors, leaving fans to analyze every detail for clues. As Abrams continues her tour and songwriting sessions, her introspective lyrics may provide further insight into the status of her relationship with Mescal.
