GTA 6 Price Confirmed at $79.99 as Rockstar Opens Pre-Orders

IT & Telecom

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the GTA 6 price, ending months of speculation surrounding the cost of one of the most highly anticipated video game releases in recent years.

The company announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch at $79.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, marking a $10 increase over the $69.99 standard price that has become common for major current-generation titles. Rockstar also unveiled an Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99, offering additional content and bonuses for players.

The pricing announcement comes after months of industry debate over whether Rockstar would set a new benchmark by charging as much as $100 for the standard edition of the game. While the confirmed price falls below some of the more aggressive predictions, analysts believe the move could still influence pricing strategies across the wider gaming industry.

Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch with a dedicated single-player experience. However, the company did not provide details about a new version of GTA Online, leaving uncertainty about how its online offerings will evolve following the game’s release.

Pre-orders for GTA 6 are scheduled to begin at midnight local time on June 25. Rockstar said players will receive various pre-order bonuses, while the Ultimate Edition will include additional content. Specific incentives may vary depending on the platform and retailer.

In a separate announcement, the publisher revealed that physical editions of GTA 6 will not contain a game disc. Instead, boxed versions will include a digital download code, reflecting the gaming industry’s ongoing transition toward digital distribution.

Rockstar also released new promotional materials, including the game’s official cover art, fresh screenshots and additional views of Vice City, the fictional setting that serves as the backdrop for the upcoming title.

The latest updates are expected to further fuel excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the blockbuster franchise. GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, with expectations that it could become one of the biggest entertainment launches of the decade.

Industry analysts believe strong pre-order demand and the franchise’s global popularity could help the title generate record-breaking sales upon release.
