GWM Pakistan introduces more affordable Haval H6 PHEV FWD variant

New front-wheel-drive Haval H6 PHEV offers lower power but improved driving range, making plug-in hybrid technology more accessible in Pakistan

GWM Pakistan has officially revealed a new front-wheel-drive (FWD) version of the Haval H6 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), expanding its electrified SUV lineup in the country.

The newly introduced variant is positioned below the existing Haval H6 PHEV Hi4 AWD model and is expected to attract buyers looking for a more affordable entry into the premium plug-in hybrid SUV segment.

Although the company has yet to announce the official price and booking details, industry observers expect the new Haval H6 PHEV FWD to be priced lower than the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant.

The reduced drivetrain complexity and single-motor configuration are likely to contribute to a more competitive price tag, making the vehicle accessible to a broader range of customers.

Key Differences Between Haval H6 PHEV FWD and AWD

The most significant distinction between the two variants lies in their drivetrain setup and performance figures. While both models are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain, the AWD version utilizes a dual-motor system and an all-wheel-drive configuration.

In contrast, the newly introduced FWD variant features a single electric motor and front-wheel-drive layout.

The transmission system has also been revised. The Haval H6 PHEV FWD is equipped with the DHT-1 transmission, whereas the AWD model uses the more advanced DHT-3 system designed to support its dual-motor architecture.

Performance and Range Comparison

The new Haval H6 PHEV FWD generates a combined output of 322 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the H6 PHEV Hi4 AWD delivers a more powerful 360 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque, offering stronger acceleration and enhanced traction.

Despite the lower performance figures, the FWD variant provides a slight advantage in efficiency. It offers an NEDC-rated electric-only driving range of 106 kilometers, compared to 100 kilometers for the AWD version. Similarly, the combined driving range increases to 1,106 kilometers, surpassing the AWD model’s 1,043-kilometer range.

Expanding Hybrid SUV Choices in Pakistan

The launch of the Haval H6 PHEV FWD reflects GWM Pakistan’s strategy to broaden consumer access to hybrid mobility solutions. By introducing a more affordable variant with improved range and everyday practicality, the automaker aims to strengthen its position in Pakistan’s rapidly growing market for fuel-efficient and electrified SUVs.
