Actress says she identifies as an independent and encourages respectful dialogue despite political differences.

Gwyneth Paltrow has disclosed that her husband, Brad Falchuk, once assumed she held Republican political views, despite her insistence that she does not align herself with the party.

Speaking on The Goop Podcast, the 53-year-old actress reflected on the increasingly polarised political climate in the United States and the importance of maintaining open-minded conversations.

Paltrow described Falchuk as a kind-hearted person with good intentions but revealed that he had previously misunderstood her political stance. She clarified that she does not identify as a Republican, instead considering herself politically independent.

The actress explained that she does not see herself fitting neatly into a single political category and prefers to approach issues from an individual perspective rather than adhering strictly to partisan viewpoints.

Paltrow also emphasised the value of understanding differing opinions rather than becoming entrenched in anger or divisive arguments. She noted that even within her own marriage, she and Falchuk do not always share the same views on every issue.

Despite these differences, Paltrow said she respects her husband’s perspectives and appreciates his approach to understanding others. She stressed the importance of listening to people with differing beliefs and avoiding quick judgements.

During the discussion, the Oscar-winning actress acknowledged that the current political atmosphere in the United States has become increasingly tense and emotionally charged, making constructive dialogue more challenging.

Paltrow, who married television writer and producer Brad Falchuk in 2018, has previously spoken about her preference for independent thinking over identifying with a specific political label.
