Hattie Dynevor reveals she failed an audition for the ITV soap despite her mother’s fame, insisting she must build her acting career through hard work.
Hattie Dynevor, daughter of Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, has hit back at claims that she benefits from nepotism, insisting she must work hard to establish her own acting career.
Speaking to The Sun, Hattie explained that having a famous mother does not automatically open doors in the entertainment industry.
She said both she and her sister Phoebe had faced the “nepo baby” label, but insisted their mother’s success could do little to guarantee them acting opportunities.
“Maybe she could get us a foot in the door, but ultimately, I have to do the work and I have to put the time in – it’s down to me,” Hattie explained.
The actress also revealed that she had auditioned for Coronation Street but failed to secure a role on the ITV soap, despite her mother’s long-standing involvement in the programme.
“I would never rule it out – I actually auditioned for Corrie, but I didn’t get it,” she revealed.
Hattie even joked about the possibility of Sally playing her adoptive mother on screen.
“Imagine if Sally fostered a child and then it was her actual child,” she added.
Meanwhile, Hattie’s sister Phoebe, 31, recently married American actor Cameron Fuller, 30, in August at the 18th-century French farmhouse Le Mas des Poiriers in Provence.
Hattie served as her older sister’s maid of honour at the wedding, marking a special family occasion.
