High Probability of Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan on March 31, 2025

Karachi, March 29, 2025 – There is a high probability that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, as the Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted on the evening of March 30, 2025.

Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has confirmed that the Shawwal moon was formed on Saturday at 15:58 PST. According to SUPARCO, by sunset on Sunday, the moon will be approximately 27 hours old, making its sighting highly likely across the country.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on Sunday evening to officially verify the sighting of the crescent moon. Zonal committees will also hold meetings in provincial capitals to review reports from different parts of the country. If the moon is sighted, Pakistan will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has already announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, March 30, 2025. The Royal Court confirmed the decision on Saturday after the Supreme Court verified multiple moon sighting reports from various locations across the Kingdom. As a result, Muslims in Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr a day earlier than Pakistan.

Eid-ul-Fitr, a significant religious festival for Muslims worldwide, is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The occasion begins with special congregational prayers at mosques and open prayer grounds, where worshippers express gratitude for completing a month of fasting and spiritual devotion. Families and friends gather to exchange greetings, share festive meals, and distribute Zakat al-Fitr to support the less fortunate.

As anticipation builds, markets and shopping centers across Pakistan are witnessing increased activity, with people purchasing new clothes, gifts, and traditional sweets in preparation for Eid-ul-Fitr. Public celebrations, including family gatherings, feasts, and community events, are expected to take place nationwide.

With both Saudi Arabia and Pakistan gearing up for Eid-ul-Fitr, the spirit of festivity and unity spreads across the Muslim world, as millions come together to mark this joyous occasion with prayers, charity, and celebrations.
