Honda unveils three electric vehicle prototypes to accelerate electrification

Honda made a significant announcement at Auto Shanghai 2023 by showcasing two prototype models, namely the e:NP2 Prototype and the e:NS2 Prototype, along with a concept model, the e:N SUV 序, for the second and third set of e:N Series EV models.

Honda aims to enhance its e:N Series lineup and intends to make EVs represent 100% of its automobile sales in China by 2035.

Honda has a goal of achieving carbon neutrality for all its products and corporate activities by 2050. In order to achieve this goal, Honda has planned to introduce 10 Honda-brand EV models in China by 2027.

The production models based on the e:NP2 Prototype and the e:NS2 Prototype will be developed as the second set of Honda e:N Series EV models, providing new value to customers. The sales of these production models are scheduled to begin in early 2024.

Likewise, the production models based on the e:N SUV 序 concept model will be developed as the third set of Honda e:N Series EV models, positioned as new-generation e:N Series models that feature both a “wild” nature unique to SUVs and near-futuristic intelligence. Honda plans to begin selling these production models before the end of 2024.

By introducing these new e:N Series models, Honda is committed to accelerating electrification in China and strives to achieve its goal of making EVs represent 100% of its automobile sales in China by 2035, which is ahead of the company’s global target of increasing the ratio of EV and FCEV sales to 100% globally by 2040.

The second set of e:N Series models will go beyond the framework set by existing EV models and offer new value to customers. The models will incorporate the e:N Series concept of “Dynamics, Intelligence and Beauty,” with a unique driving pleasure that enables the driver to experience a sense of oneness with the vehicle.

The interior space is designed to convey intelligence with clean, uncluttered, yet pleasantly rounded forms combined with advanced features such as Honda CONNECT 4.0. The models feature designs that combine the excellent utility of SUVs and the sleek form of sedans.

The e:NP2 Prototype and the e:NS2 Prototype are differentiated by their respective visions. The former features a design that expresses a seamless, sophisticated, and smart sense of the future, while the latter features a design that expresses an emotional sense of the future that excites people when they see the vehicle.

The e:N SUV 序, the concept model for the third set of e:N Series models, was developed to take the e:N Series concept of “Dynamics, Intelligence and Beauty” to a new level. This model adopts the “e:N Architecture W” developed exclusively for e:N Series EV models and realizes driving performance unique to Honda vehicles, pursuing the “joy of driving.”

The model adopts Honda’s latest safety and driver assistance system, as well as AI-powered Honda CONNECT technologies, conveying intelligence throughout the interior space. The e:N SUV 序 features designs that combine a “wild” nature unique to SUVs and near-futuristic intelligence.

Honda’s latest electric vehicle prototypes and concept models showcased at Auto Shanghai 2023 represent the company’s commitment to accelerating electrification in China and achieving its goal of making EVs represent 100% of its automobile sales in China by 2035.
