Honor is preparing to launch its new Honor 600 series smartphones on April 23, and one of the biggest highlights will be an upgraded artificial intelligence feature called AI Image to Video 2.0. The company is promising a significantly improved experience compared to the original Image to Video tool that debuted with the Honor 400 series last year.

According to Honor, the first-generation AI feature proved extremely popular among users. Since its introduction, people have created more than 13.4 million seconds of AI-generated videos, which the company says would take about 155 days of continuous viewing to watch in full.

Building on that success, the upcoming Honor 600 lineup will introduce a new unified multi-modal video generation model that runs directly on the smartphone. This means the AI processing will happen on-device instead of relying heavily on cloud-based services.

The new system allows users to generate short videos using a combination of images, videos, and text prompts. By providing one to three reference images and entering simple natural language instructions, users can guide the AI to create a 3 to 8-second video clip based on their ideas.

For example, users can instruct the AI to animate characters, create movement between scenes, or simulate specific camera effects. The tool also allows users to provide both a starting image and an ending image, letting the AI generate the intermediate frames to complete the visual story.

To make the process easier for beginners, Honor will also include a range of pre-built templates. These templates support cinematic effects such as the Hitchcock zoom, bullet time, and various world-transformation visual styles, allowing users to produce creative clips with minimal effort.

One common challenge with AI-generated visuals is maintaining consistency when objects appear from different angles. Honor says its new AI model addresses this issue with multi-angle subject construction, which helps maintain visual stability even during complex camera movements.

Another convenience feature is the dedicated AI button on the Honor 600 series devices. This button will allow users to quickly access the AI Image to Video tool and generate videos using photos stored on their device or images found on social media platforms like Instagram.

Honor is expected to unveil two devices during the launch event: the Honor 600 and Honor 600 Pro, both of which will showcase the company’s latest advancements in AI-powered mobile creativity.
