Hot and Humid Weather Forecasted Across Pakistan on August 29

Islamabad, August 28, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting hot and humid conditions across most regions of the country on August 29, 2023.

While the majority of Pakistan’s plain areas can expect scorching temperatures, there is a chance of rain-wind and thundershowers in certain areas of Kashmir and its adjacent regions.

According to the PMD’s weather report, the prevailing synoptic situation indicates the influence of a westerly wave, which is currently affecting the upper parts of Pakistan. This weather system is expected to move eastwards within the next 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours, Pakistan experienced hot and humid weather conditions, with rain-wind and thundershowers occurring in various areas. The recorded rainfall in millimeters (mm) includes:

Punjab: Sialkot (City 25, Airport 08); Mangla (24); Lahore (Qurtaba Chowk 22; City 20, Lakshmi Chowk 17, Tajpura 15, Airport 12, Johar Town, Gulberg 10, Sammanabad 09, Iqbal Town 06, Upper Mall 05, Gulshan Ravi 04, Nishtar Town 02, Farrukhabad 01); Jhelum (17); Narowal (14).

Islamabad: Golra (11); Airport (10); Saidpur (08); Zero Point (07); Bokra (03)

Punjab: Gujrat (08); Murree (06); Rawalpindi (Shams Abad 05, Kacheri 03, Chaklala 02); Gujranwala (02).

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Patan (18); Mirkhani (04); Kakul (03); Kalam (03); Dir (Upper), Drosh, Malam Jabba (01).

Gilgit-Baltistan: Gupis (08); Bagrote (07); Chilas, Astore (02).

Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta (05); Kotli (04).

Additionally, the highest maximum temperatures recorded today include Dalbandin at 42°C, with Dadu, Khairpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad experiencing temperatures of 41°C.
