Hot, dry weather forecast for Islamabad on April 20

Hot and Dry Weather

ISLAMABAD, April 19 — Pakistan’s capital Islamabad is expected to experience hot and dry conditions on Monday, April 20, with gusty winds likely in the afternoon, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Sunday.

According to the weather forecast, daytime temperatures in Islamabad and surrounding areas will remain elevated, reflecting a broader heat pattern across the country’s plains. The PMD added that dry conditions would persist overnight on Sunday, with no significant rainfall expected in the federal capital.

Meteorologists said continental air continues to dominate most parts of Pakistan, contributing to stable but warm weather conditions. A shallow westerly wave is currently affecting parts of Kashmir and adjoining areas, though it is expected to move northeastwards without significantly impacting Islamabad’s weather.

At the national level, dry weather is forecast to prevail in most regions on both Sunday and Monday, with higher temperatures in lowland areas. However, the PMD said isolated rain, windstorms or thunderstorms could occur in upper parts of the country, including Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Weather experts noted that the persistence of dry and hot conditions in the plains could lead to rising daytime temperatures in the coming days, particularly in central and southern regions.

Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures during peak afternoon hours, especially as gusty winds may accompany the heat on Monday.

The PMD said it will continue to monitor weather patterns and issue updates if conditions change, particularly in northern areas where localized weather systems remain active.
