Huawei Unveils New Foldable Marvel: The Huawei Mate X5

Huawei has recently launched its latest foldable smartphone, Huawei Mate X5 with 50 MP main camera.

This device serves as a direct successor to the Mate X3, offering notable improvements under the hood while maintaining a familiar design.

The phone is launched in five fascinating colors: Phantom Purple, Feather White, Feather Black, Green Mountain Dai and Feather Gold.

The Mate X5 features the same impressive 7.85-inch LTPO OLED main display with a resolution of 2,224 x 2,496 pixels, along with a 6.4-inch LTPO OLED cover display boasting a resolution of 1,080 x 2,504 pixels, both protected by Kunlun Glass.

On the exterior, the Mate X5 introduces a fresh Phantom Purple color option to join the existing choices of Feather White, Feather Black, Feather Gold, and Green Mountain, which were also available for the Mate X3.

The camera arrangement on the rear has undergone slight design adjustments, while maintaining the same camera setup. This includes a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide unit and a 12MP f/3.4 periscope module offering 5x optical zoom.

Under the hood, the latest Huawei foldable device offers configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Although there is no official confirmation regarding the chipset, reports from China suggest it may employ the same Kirin 9000s SoC, which made its debut with the recently launched Mate 60 series. This SoC is speculated to support 5G connectivity and is built on SMIC’s 7nm process technology.

Another noteworthy feature is the redesigned antenna system, known as Huawei’s Lingxi antenna, which is touted to enhance signal reception. This technology incorporates an AI algorithm to select the optimal network, ensuring consistent and reliable connectivity. Additionally, the antennas integrated into the device’s frame feature dual-mode tuning technology, further improving signal quality.

The Mate X5 is equipped with a larger 5,060 mAh battery, supporting rapid charging with 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging capabilities. It runs on HarmonyOS 4 and introduces new air gesture controls, allowing users to navigate through videos, webpages, and images without physically touching the main display. The Mate X5 also boasts an IPX8 waterproof rating and offers two-way BeiDou satellite messaging functionality in China.
