Huawei Unveils Pura X Max: More Powerful Wide-Foldable Flagship

Huawei is pushing the boundaries of foldable technology once again with the launch of the Huawei Pura X Max. Positioned as a “wide foldable,” this new model bridges the gap between traditional flip phones and book-style foldables, offering a larger, more refined experience than its predecessor, the original Pura X.

Sleeker Design, Massive Displays

The Pura X Max is significantly thinner and more immersive. Despite its larger footprint, it measures just 5.2mm when unfolded and 11.2mm when closed. It features a 5.4-inch cover screen and a massive 7.7-inch internal LTPO display.

Unlike the original’s 16:10 ratio, the Max moves toward a nearly square 14.1:10 aspect ratio, perfect for productivity. Both screens support a 1-120Hz refresh rate and 1,440Hz PWM dimming for eye protection.

Enhanced Performance and Stylus Support

Under the hood, the Pura X Max is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, delivering a 30% performance boost over the previous generation. To keep things cool, Huawei utilizes an advanced vapor chamber and graphene cooling system.

For the first time in this series, Huawei introduces stylus support with the M-Pen 3 Mini. This addition, paired with HarmonyOS 6.1, transforms the device into a compact powerhouse for creators and professionals.

Professional-Grade XMAGE Cameras

The camera system receives a major overhaul, featuring:

50MP Main Sensor: Equipped with OIS and a variable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0).

50MP Periscope Telephoto: Offers superior zoom capabilities with OIS.

12.5MP Ultra-Wide: Optimized for wide-angle shots.

RYYB Sensors: All three main cameras utilize RYYB tech for enhanced low-light performance.

Durability and Battery Life

The device is built to last with an IP58/IP59 rating for dust and water resistance and second-gen Kunlun glass protection. Powering the experience is a 5,300mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless SuperCharge capabilities.

Pricing and Availability

Currently launched in China, the Pura X Max starts at CNY 11,000 (~$1,615) for the 12GB/256GB model, scaling up to CNY 14,000 (~$2,055) for the 16GB/1TB variant. Global availability remains unconfirmed.
