Limited Edition disappears from Hyundai’s lineup as buyers increasingly shift toward hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles
Hyundai Pakistan appears to have quietly discontinued the Hyundai Elantra 2.0 Limited Edition from its local lineup, several months after the variant was relaunched as a limited-edition model in October 2025.
The special edition was introduced with additional upgrades aimed at making the Elantra more appealing to local buyers. However, the variant seemingly struggled to gain strong market traction, with the company now removing it from its available vehicle lineup.
Although Hyundai Pakistan has not issued an official statement confirming the discontinuation, the absence of the Elantra 2.0 Limited Edition from the company’s current lineup clearly indicates that the variant may no longer be available for new buyers.
The development comes as Hyundai continues to adjust its passenger vehicle offerings amid changing consumer preferences in Pakistan.
The company recently relaunched the Elantra 1.6 Special Edition in May 2026 and has now started making the model available through dealerships.
This has raised questions about whether the Elantra 1.6 Special Edition will be able to achieve better market acceptance or face a similar fate to the 2.0 Limited Edition.
Changing Consumer Preferences
Pakistan’s automotive market is gradually witnessing a shift in consumer preferences, with buyers showing growing interest in hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fully electric vehicles.
The increasing availability of electrified vehicles has placed traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models under greater pressure.
Competitive pricing, lower running costs and improved fuel efficiency are becoming increasingly important factors for consumers when choosing a new vehicle.
Why Was the Elantra 2.0 Discontinued?
Several factors could have contributed to the apparent discontinuation of the Elantra 2.0 Limited Edition.
These may include its relatively weak resale value, changing consumer preferences, pricing concerns and competition from newer electrified vehicles.
The Elantra’s design may also have played a role, as some buyers could prefer newer-looking models with more modern styling and technology.
For now, Hyundai Pakistan has not officially confirmed the discontinuation. However, the removal of the Elantra 2.0 Limited Edition from the lineup clearly suggests that the variant may have reached the end of its journey in Pakistan.
