The much-awaited schedule for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to be announced in the coming days, according to a report on Wednesday.
Discussions regarding the schedule are currently underway between the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and other participating teams.
Sources close to the matter indicated that the final schedule would be revealed shortly, with the official announcement expected within a couple of days. “We are still in discussions with the host and participating members on the Champions Trophy schedule. It should be out soon, likely in a couple of days or so,” the report quoted an insider as saying.
The Champions Trophy, initially slated to take place in Pakistan, has been the center of ongoing discussions due to concerns raised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan for the tournament has sparked a debate on how to proceed with the event. However, the PCB has remained firm in its position, insisting that the tournament will be held entirely in Pakistan. The board has also rejected the proposal of a hybrid model, which would see matches played in both Pakistan and neutral venues.
Despite these challenges, the report suggests that behind-the-scenes negotiations are ongoing in a bid to convince the PCB to reconsider the hybrid model, which has been suggested as a compromise to ease India’s participation. However, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has publicly stated that all other teams qualifying for the tournament are willing to travel to Pakistan, and the board is committed to hosting the event as planned.
Addressing concerns about India’s reluctance to play in Pakistan, Naqvi reassured the media that Pakistan was ready to address any issues related to security or logistics. “If India has any concerns, we will talk and ensure that their concerns are taken care of. I don’t think there is any reason why India can’t come to Pakistan. Hopefully, all the teams will come,” Naqvi said on Monday.
The PCB chairman also stressed the importance of finalizing the tournament schedule soon to ensure adequate preparation time. “We are committed to hosting the tournament in Pakistan as planned,” he emphasized.
As the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 draws closer, cricket fans around the world eagerly await the official announcement and hope for a resolution that will allow the tournament to proceed smoothly.
