In anticipation of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the distinguished panel of match officials for the tournament.
The lineup features a seasoned team of 16 Umpires and four Match Referees, ensuring fair play and adherence to the highest standards throughout the event.
The ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 is scheduled to take place in South Africa from January 19 to February 11, showcasing the talents of the world’s best young cricketers across 41 thrilling matches.
For the tournament opener on January 19, where hosts South Africa face off against former U19 champion West Indies in Potchefstroom, the on-field Umpires will be Roland Black from Ireland and Gazi Sohel from Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the experienced former Sri Lanka international cricketer Graeme Labrooy will take on the role of Match Referee, marking his sixth appearance at this prestigious event.
The following day, defending champions India will clash with Bangladesh in Bloemfontein, with Donovan Koch from Australia and Nigel Duguid from West Indies leading the officiating team. The host nation’s duo, Allahudien Palekar and Shaid Wadvalla, will serve as TV Umpire and Match Referee, respectively.
As the excitement builds, the tournament’s initial group stage fixtures will also witness other top-notch officials overseeing the action.
Notably, the East London fixture between Pakistan and Afghanistan on January 20 will be officiated by Bongani Jele from South Africa and K.N.A. Padmanabhan from India as on-field Umpires, with Narayanan Kutty from India as the Match Referee.
In Kimberley on January 21, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will kickstart the cricketing action, with Mike Burns and Patrick Gustard serving as on-field Umpires.
The TV Umpire for the match will be Masudur Rahman Mukul from Bangladesh, while Faisal Khan Afridi from Pakistan takes on the role of Fourth Umpire. England’s Wayne Noon will assume the position of Match Referee.
