Investors now have until September 21 to submit EOIs for acquiring a 51% to 100% stake and management control of IESCO.
ISLAMABAD: The Privatisation Commission (PC) has extended the deadline for private investors to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the privatisation of Islamabad Electric Supply Company Limited (IESCO) to September 21, 2026.
According to a PC spokesperson, interested investors can now submit their EOIs by 4:00pm (PKT) on September 21.
The commission said the extension was aimed at facilitating both local and international investors and encouraging broader participation in the privatisation process.
Private sector invited to acquire up to 100% stake
Under the government’s privatisation programme, private sector participation is being sought through the acquisition of 51% to 100% of the share capital, along with management control, in three power distribution companies — Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) and IESCO.
The PC said the additional time would enable prospective investors to complete their due diligence and prepare their EOIs, helping promote a more competitive and transparent privatisation process.
The commission clarified that all other terms and conditions of the EOI process would remain unchanged.
The privatisation drive forms part of the government’s broader efforts to attract private investment into Pakistan’s power distribution sector, improve operational efficiency and strengthen the financial and service delivery performance of distribution companies.
