Karachi, December 13, 2024 – Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC) has announced a temporary shutdown of its production facility to conduct its annual maintenance activities. The announcement was made on Friday, with IMC informing the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) about the scheduled maintenance at its manufacturing and assembly plant.
According to the company’s communication with the PSX, the planned maintenance activities will require the suspension of operations from December 16 to December 31, 2024. IMC has assured stakeholders that these activities are part of its routine efforts to enhance operational efficiency and maintain high manufacturing standards.
IMC is a joint venture involving the House of Habib of Pakistan, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) of Japan. Established in 1989, IMC has played a pivotal role in manufacturing and marketing Toyota brand vehicles in Pakistan. Its product lineup includes popular models such as the Corolla and Yaris in the passenger car segment, the Hilux in the light commercial vehicle category, and the Fortuner and Corolla Cross in the sports utility vehicle segment.
IMC’s primary manufacturing facility is located on a sprawling 109.5-acre site in Port Qasim, Karachi. The facility, known for its adherence to Toyota’s global production standards, has grown significantly in capacity since its inception. Starting with a modest output of 20 vehicles per day in 1993, the company’s production capacity has expanded to 288 units per day on a double-shift basis, including overtime. This growth underscores IMC’s commitment to quality and efficiency, driven by the adoption of the “Toyota Way” of lean manufacturing.
Over the past 34 years, IMC has established itself as a market leader, selling over 1.1 million CKD/CBU vehicles across Pakistan. Its products are distributed nationwide through a robust network of 57 independent authorized 3S dealerships. This network ensures seamless delivery and customer service, reinforcing IMC’s reputation for reliability and excellence.
