Imran Farookhi given acting charge of MD SSGC

KARACHI – The Board of Directors (BoD) of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) announced the appointment of Imran Farookhi as the Acting Managing Director for a provisional period of 90 days in a statement released on Friday.

This decision was made during an emergent meeting held on January 10, 2019, following a request made by Muhammad Amin Rajput.

In his formal request presented during the meeting, Mr. Rajput expressed his desire to be relieved from his duties as the Acting Managing Director of SSGC, effective from January 10, 2019. As a result, Mr. Rajput will now continue to serve the company in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Deputy Managing Director (DMD) for Finance.

Subsequently, the Board of Directors appointed Imran Farookhi to assume the role of Acting Managing Director for SSGC. He will hold this position for a period of 90 days or until the appointment of a regular Managing Director, whichever occurs earlier.

This decision is a significant development in the leadership structure of SSGC, one of Pakistan’s most prominent gas utility companies. The appointment of Imran Farookhi as Acting Managing Director is expected to provide stability and continuity in the management of the company’s operations during this transitional period.

Imran Farookhi brings extensive experience and knowledge to his new role, having previously held key positions within SSGC. As he assumes the responsibility of Acting Managing Director, he will play a pivotal role in maintaining the company’s operations, strategic direction, and ongoing initiatives.

The 90-day tenure of Mr. Farookhi as Acting Managing Director will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition of leadership within the company. During this period, the Board of Directors will likely initiate the process of selecting a permanent Managing Director, keeping in view the long-term interests of SSGC.

SSGC, as a major player in the energy sector of Pakistan, plays a critical role in the distribution of natural gas to various regions and industries. The company is responsible for supplying natural gas to millions of customers, including households and businesses, across its operational areas.

The decision to appoint Imran Farookhi as the Acting Managing Director underscores the commitment of SSGC’s management and Board of Directors to ensuring the continued smooth operation of the company. It reflects their dedication to fulfilling the energy needs of the people and industries served by SSGC.

Imran Farookhi’s appointment will bring stability to the company’s leadership and maintain its commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and reliable natural gas services to its customers. The forthcoming 90 days will be closely observed as SSGC prepares to select a permanent Managing Director to lead the company into the future.
