The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled squads for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Australia, setting the stage for an exciting clash Down Under.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team in both formats, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy. Following a challenging T20I series against England, where India faced a 2-1 defeat, the Women in Blue bounced back strongly with consecutive Test victories against England and Australia.
The ODI squad features key players such as Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), and others. Meanwhile, the T20I squad boasts a similar lineup, with the addition of talented players like Kanika Ahuja and Minnu Mani.
Notable contributors, including Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, and Pooja Vastrakar, continue to be instrumental in the team’s success. The inclusion of two skilled wicketkeepers, Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh, adds depth to the squad, with Ghosh making a notable impact in her recent debut at the Wankhede.
The limited-overs action kicks off with the first ODI at the Wankhede on December 28, 2023, followed by two more ODIs at the same venue. The T20I series will take place at the DY Patil Stadium from January 5 to January 9, 2024.
