Indus Motor Company says potential changes to its vehicle lineup remain pending as the government works to finalize the new auto policy, while rising vehicle imports and policy uncertainty pose challenges for the local automobile industry.
Indus Motor Company Limited (INDU) is considering potential changes to its Toyota Revo pickup, Yaris sedan and Corolla Cross SUV after the government finalizes the new automobile policy in Pakistan.
According to the key takeaways from the company’s corporate briefing session, shared by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), management indicated that further decisions regarding these models would be made once the proposed auto policy is finalized.
Auto Policy and Model Updates
The company has highlighted uncertainty surrounding the upcoming auto policy as a key factor affecting its future product plans. The policy is currently awaiting government approval, with proposed changes expected to influence vehicle pricing, localization and the broader automotive market.
Management stated that potential changes to models such as the Revo, Yaris and Corolla Cross have been delayed until greater clarity emerges regarding the policy. Further announcements may follow once the government finalizes the framework.
The company also emphasized the importance of tariff rationalization to encourage local parts manufacturing and support domestic vehicle production.
Rising Vehicle Imports
During the corporate briefing, Indus Motor Company highlighted a significant increase in completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle imports. New CKD imports rose 39% year-on-year to 8,671 units in the first quarter of FY2027, compared with 6,259 units in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
On an annual basis, imports increased 45% to 259,738 units in FY2026. Meanwhile, first-quarter FY2027 imports climbed 32% year-on-year to 68,472 units.
Management expressed concerns about the growing number of vehicle imports, particularly completely built-up (CBU) units and proposed policies that could encourage older used-vehicle imports. According to the company, these developments could affect local manufacturing, employment and industrial growth.
Automobile Sales Outlook
Indus Motor Company expects potential weakness in overall automobile industry volumes this year. Management noted that uncertainty surrounding the auto policy could encourage consumers to delay purchasing decisions, potentially affecting sales and market share.
The company has also urged the government to ease auto financing restrictions by increasing the existing financing limit of Rs3 million and extending the maximum financing tenure beyond three years.
Toyota Dealership Network
As of October 2026, Indus Motor Company operates a network of 58 3S dealerships across Pakistan, including 19 in the southern region, 27 in the central region and 12 in the northern region.
