President Pezeshkian praises Pakistan’s peace efforts and calls for deeper cooperation in trade, security and economy
Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian has called for accelerating cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in trade, investment, security and economic development, saying the current level of engagement falls short of the full potential shared by the two neighbouring countries.
The remarks came on Wednesday as President Pezeshkian accepted the diplomatic credentials of Pakistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui.
The Iranian president described Pakistan-Iran ties as far deeper than ordinary neighbourly relations, saying the partnership is founded on shared history, culture, religion and longstanding fraternal bonds.
He said Iran regards Pakistan as a trusted partner and brotherly nation, adding that the Iranian people consider Pakistan their second home.
Pezeshkian calls for broader cooperation
President Pezeshkian said both countries should pursue closer collaboration with greater urgency across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, security and regional connectivity.
He expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to expand in the years ahead through stronger economic and strategic cooperation.
The Iranian president said enhancing commercial and economic engagement would help both countries realise the untapped potential of their longstanding partnership.
Pakistan praised for peace efforts
Pezeshkian also commended Pakistan’s leadership for its diplomatic role in recent regional developments.
He praised the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, describing Pakistan’s engagement as a reflection of its commitment to regional peace and stability.
The Iranian president said Tehran highly values its close consultations with Islamabad and appreciates Pakistan’s constructive approach to regional affairs.
He also conveyed his greetings and best wishes to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
President Pezeshkian assured Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui of Iran’s full support during his diplomatic assignment.
Pakistan reaffirms commitment
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui described Pakistan-Iran ties as an enduring example of historical friendship and mutual support.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development and other areas of mutual interest to unlock greater economic opportunities.
The ambassador thanked President Pezeshkian for the warm welcome and conveyed the good wishes of Pakistan’s leadership to the Iranian president and the people of Iran.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to work closely with Iran in promoting regional peace, security and greater unity among the Muslim Ummah.
