The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Friday May 05, 2023 announced a major reshuffle of officers in the Inland Revenue Service (IRS) from BS-17 to BS-20, citing the need to improve tax collection efforts.
This move comes at a time when the FBR is facing a significant tax collection shortfall, and revenue collection efforts by field officers are at their peak with only two months left for the fiscal year end.

The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening the FBR’s tax collection machinery and ensuring better coordination among field officers. The FBR has been facing criticism from various quarters for its inability to achieve tax collection targets, and this move is seen as an attempt to address these concerns.
According to the FBR, the reshuffle has been carried out based on officers’ performance and experience. The FBR has also stated that officers who have completed their tenure in a particular area have been transferred to other areas to ensure fresh perspectives and new ideas in tax collection efforts.

The FBR has assured that the reshuffle will not affect ongoing tax collection efforts and that officers who are already involved in the collection process will continue to do so. The FBR has also stated that the reshuffle will help ensure better coordination among field officers and improve overall tax collection efforts.
The revenue body notified transfers and postings of the following IRS officers with immediate effect and until further orders:
01. Imran Munir (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Director-II, Directorate of Law, Lahore from the post of Commissioner, (WHT) Regional Tax Office, Lahore.
02. Muhammad Farrukh Majid (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (Zone-II) Regional Tax Office, Lahore from the post of Director, Directorate General of Internal Audit (Inland Revenue), Islamabad.
03. Ms. Humaira Maryam (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (WHT) Regional Tax Office, Lahore from the post of Commissioner, (Zone-II) Regional Tax Office, Lahore.
04. Muhammad Abu Bakar Siddique (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (Zone-IV) Corporate Tax Office, Islamabad from the post of Commissioner, (WHT) Regional Tax Office, Gujranwala.
05. Lal Muhammad Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Director, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue), Hyderabad from the post of Commissioner, (Zone-IV) Regional Tax Office II, Karachi.
06. Pir Khalid Ahmed Qureshi (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (Zone-IV) Regional Tax Office II, Karachi from the post of Director, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue), Hyderabad.
07. Mohy ud Din Ismail (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals-IV), Islamabad from the post of Chief, (Legal-I) Legal-IR Wing Federal Board of Revenue (Hq), Islamabad.
08. Barrister Nowsherwan Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-20) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (Special Zone for Builders & Developers) Regional Tax Office, Islamabad from the post of Director, Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue), Islamabad.
09. Ali Adnan Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Director, (OPS) Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue), Multan from the post of Commissioner, (OPS) (Okara Zone) Regional Tax Office, Sahiwal.
10. Zahid Mahmood (Inland Revenue Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (OPS) (Multan Zone) Regional Tax Office, Multan from the post of Additional Commissioner, Regional Tax Office, Lahore.
11. Kashif Azhar (Inland Revenue Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (OPS) (Zone-IV) Large Taxpayers Office, Multan from the post of Additional Commissioner, Corporate Tax Office, Lahore.
12. Hayat Muhammad (Inland Revenue Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Director, (OPS) Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Inland Revenue), Islamabad. The officer is also assigned the additional charge of the post of Director (OPS) (Regulations), DNFBPs, Islamabad, as per Rules. The officers has been transferred from the post of Special Assistant to Member (Admin/HR), Federal Board of Revenue (Hq), Islamabad.
13. Abdur Razzaq Khan (Inland Revenue Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Commissioner Inland Revenue, (OPS) (Okara Zone) Regional Tax Office, Sahiwal from the post of Additional Commissioner, Regional Tax Office, Sahiwal.
14. Rizwan Memon (Inland Revenue Service/BS-19) has been transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Quetta from the post of Additional Commissioner, Regional Tax Office, Hyderabad.
