Is TikTok really banned in Pakistan: PTA responds

The telecom regulator dismisses a circulating notification about an alleged TikTok ban as fake and misleading, urging citizens to rely on official channels.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified that TikTok has not been banned in Pakistan, dismissing a fake notification circulating on social media about an alleged nationwide restriction on the platform.

In an official clarification, the regulator said it had not issued any notification announcing a ban on TikTok. It described the circulating information as false and misleading, urging the public not to believe or spread the unverified claim.

The clarification comes after a notification claiming that TikTok would be banned in Pakistan began circulating across social media platforms, prompting questions among users about the platform’s availability in the country.

PTA advised citizens to avoid sharing unverified information and to check the authenticity of such announcements before relying on them.

The authority also urged the public to obtain accurate updates through its official website and verified social media accounts rather than relying on screenshots, forwarded messages or posts from unofficial sources.

The latest clarification aims to address confusion surrounding the alleged restriction and confirms that the notification being circulated did not originate from the telecom regulator.
