Islamabad, December 27, 2024 – The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has announced extended hours for the payment of vehicle token tax as part of preparations for a major crackdown beginning January 1, 2025. This initiative aims to provide citizens with ample opportunities to settle their dues before strict enforcement measures are implemented.
The Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad is set to launch a comprehensive campaign targeting vehicles with unpaid token taxes. To facilitate compliance, the department has introduced both in-person and online payment options for vehicle owners.
Speaking to state media, Bilal Azam, Director of the Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad, emphasized the importance of these measures. “We have extended the working hours at our excise office to accommodate more citizens. On Saturday, counters will remain open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” he stated. Additionally, the department has extended its weekday hours, with counters operating until 8 p.m.
For greater convenience, the Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has also enabled online payment of token taxes through the Islamabad City App. This service, available 24/7, allows residents with smart cards to pay their taxes without needing to visit the office in person. “This initiative is aimed at making the process simpler and more accessible for vehicle owners,” added Bilal Azam.
The Islamabad Excise Department has further warned that vehicles with unpaid token taxes may face severe penalties, including cancellation of their registration. Citizens are strongly urged to take advantage of the extended hours and online services to avoid fines or legal actions.
Islamabad’s efforts to enhance its excise services reflect its commitment to modernizing tax collection processes and improving public convenience. By introducing flexible payment options and extending office hours, the Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department is making it easier for residents to fulfill their obligations.
These measures are part of Islamabad’s broader strategy to ensure compliance and accountability within the city’s vehicle registration system. Vehicle owners are advised to act promptly to avoid disruptions and penalties as the January 1 deadline approaches.
