Islamabad police recover vehicles worth Rs6.7 million in crackdown against an active car-lifting gang.
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have intensified their crackdown against vehicle theft in the federal capital, arresting two alleged members of an active car-lifting gang and recovering five stolen vehicles worth approximately Rs6.7 million.
The arrests were made by the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) of ICT Police as part of efforts to curb vehicle theft and dismantle gangs involved in stealing cars across Islamabad.
According to an ICT Police official, the arrested suspects have been identified. Both suspects are allegedly linked to multiple vehicle theft incidents reported in different areas of the capital.
Five Stolen Vehicles Recovered
Police officials said the five recovered vehicles had been reported stolen from the jurisdictions of different police stations in Islamabad. The recovery marks a significant development in the investigation into the activities of the alleged car-lifting network.
The AVLU launched an investigation following the arrests and questioned the suspects regarding their alleged involvement in vehicle theft. During the investigation, the suspects reportedly disclosed their involvement in the theft of several other vehicles.
Police are now continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the gang’s activities and identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the theft and disposal of stolen vehicles.
Police Vow Continued Crackdown
SSP Investigation Islamabad Suleman Zafar said ICT Police would continue taking strict action against active car-lifting gangs operating in the capital.
He maintained that police would pursue those involved in depriving citizens of their valuable vehicles and other assets. According to the official, suspects would be presented before the courts based on solid evidence to seek punishment under the law.
The latest arrests and vehicle recoveries highlight the ongoing efforts of Islamabad Police to tackle vehicle theft and improve security for residents.
Authorities are also expected to expand investigations into other reported vehicle theft cases to trace additional suspects and recover more stolen vehicles.
The crackdown comes as law enforcement agencies continue efforts to prevent organized vehicle theft and bring those allegedly involved in such crimes before the courts.
