The Vanderpump Rules star has asked a judge to end his marital status while financial, property and support issues remain unresolved in his divorce from Brittany Cartwright.

Jax Taylor has asked a judge to declare him legally single as his divorce from estranged wife Brittany Cartwright continues, despite unresolved financial and property matters between the former couple.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the Vanderpump Rules alum’s lawyer filed a request on Tuesday, October 13, seeking a separate judgment on the couple’s marital status while other divorce issues are addressed.

“Taylor respectfully requests that this court grant his request for a bifurcated judgment on marital status only,” the filing states.

Taylor’s lawyer argued that the marriage had irretrievably broken down and that neither party would benefit from remaining legally married.

“It is clear that this marriage is beyond repair and that no one will benefit by keeping the parties bound to one another as spouses,” the document reads.

The filing further states that Taylor wants the freedom to move forward with his life as a single person, adding that Cartwright may wish to do the same.

His legal team also maintained that he was entitled to seek an immediate dissolution of the couple’s marital status.

The request highlights the time the divorce proceedings have taken, with Taylor’s lawyer noting that nearly two years had passed since the case began, with limited progress and no trial date scheduled.

Taylor is therefore asking the court to grant his request and legally end the marriage while allowing the remaining matters to be resolved separately.

Cartwright filed for divorce in August 2024. Although the former couple reached an agreement on child custody and support earlier in 2026, their marital status remains legally unresolved.

Restraining orders and new romance

The latest legal development follows a turbulent period in the former couple’s separation, which has also involved restraining orders.

Cartwright was granted a restraining order against Taylor last month, after which Taylor filed for one of his own.

Meanwhile, Taylor has confirmed that he is dating Lori Krebs, Cartwright’s former longtime publicist and a once-close friend.

The pair were spotted on a date in West Hollywood in late September, drawing further attention to the increasingly complicated split.

Taylor’s request to be declared legally single could allow the couple’s marital status to be resolved before the remaining financial and other divorce-related matters are settled.

However, the request remains subject to the court’s decision, leaving the next step in the proceedings uncertain.

With a new relationship and another legal filing, Taylor appears keen to move forward with his life while the outstanding issues surrounding his divorce from Cartwright continue to be addressed.
