Islamabad, November 18, 2024 – Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, has announced the complete phase-out of 3G services, becoming the first telecom operator in the country to transition entirely to a 4G-powered mobile broadband network. This milestone reflects Jazz’s commitment to advancing Pakistan’s digital economy by reallocating all spectrum resources to high-speed 4G services.

With a 4G customer base surpassing 50 million, Jazz’s move to optimize spectrum utilization promises faster internet speeds, greater network reliability, and broader coverage. This transition marks a significant step in the company’s journey to becoming a ServiceCo, leveraging advanced technology to improve lives and empower communities across Pakistan.

Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer at Jazz, highlighted the achievement:

“Repurposing our spectrum solely for 4G is a monumental step in our ServiceCo transformation, reaffirming Jazz’s leadership in digital innovation. Expanding 4G access not only improves service quality but also empowers livelihoods and uplifts communities. Achieving this milestone over a year-long journey reflects our meticulous planning and execution.”

To ensure a smooth transition, Jazz introduced initiatives such as free SIM upgrades and dedicated customer support, enabling users to adopt 4G-compatible devices. These efforts have already enhanced 4G speeds and reliability, creating opportunities for economic growth and digital inclusion.

Jazz’s phase-out of 3G sets a regulatory benchmark, aligning with PTA standards through spectrum reallocation. Operating over 15,000 4G sites nationwide, the company remains focused on expanding its network, particularly in underserved and remote areas, under its “4G for All” initiative.

By dedicating its entire spectrum to 4G, Jazz is spearheading digital accessibility and fostering an inclusive digital ecosystem. This milestone aligns with the company’s mission to harness technology for social impact, empowering a connected society and accelerating Pakistan’s progress in the digital age.
