The seminar brings together government and industry stakeholders to discuss emerging cyber risks, strengthen network security and improve consumer protection as Pakistan expands its digital infrastructure.
ISLAMABAD: JazzWorld, Pakistan’s leading digital platform company, has organised a cybersecurity awareness seminar in collaboration with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), focusing on emerging cyber threats linked to 5G networks, embedded SIMs (e-SIMs) and artificial intelligence (AI).
The seminar brought together industry and government stakeholders to discuss measures to safeguard mobile networks, digital services and critical infrastructure as Pakistan accelerates its digital transformation.
Discussions centred on strengthening technical safeguards, improving organisational preparedness and raising awareness of cybersecurity risks as individuals and businesses increasingly rely on digital platforms.
Syed Zaheer Mehdi, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at JazzWorld, said cybersecurity was fundamental to building trust in Pakistan’s digital future.
“Cybersecurity is fundamental to building trust in Pakistan’s digital future. As digital services become an increasingly important part of everyday life, protecting users, data and critical infrastructure require constant vigilance and collective action,” he said.
“At JazzWorld, we are committed to strengthening digital security through resilient infrastructure, advanced capabilities and close collaboration with regulators and industry partners.”
5G network security in focus
A key area of discussion was the security of next-generation mobile networks, with 5G expected to support increasingly sophisticated applications and connected services.
Participants highlighted the importance of measures such as network segmentation, access controls, firewalls and secure interfaces to minimise vulnerabilities, protect network infrastructure and maintain service reliability.
As telecommunications networks become more complex, the discussions emphasised the need for security measures to evolve alongside technological advancements.
e-SIM adoption raises consumer protection concerns
The seminar also examined cybersecurity risks associated with the growing adoption of e-SIM technology.
Participants stressed the importance of secure digital onboarding, reliable identity verification and safeguards against SIM-related fraud and social engineering attacks.
With consumers increasingly using mobile connectivity for digital transactions and essential services, protecting personal information and preventing identity-based fraud remain key priorities for telecommunications operators and regulators.
AI presents opportunities and cybersecurity risks
Artificial intelligence was another major focus, with participants discussing its dual role in cybersecurity.
AI-powered tools can help organisations detect threats and improve response times. However, the same technology can also be exploited to develop more sophisticated cyberattacks.
The discussions highlighted the importance of combining technological safeguards with employee awareness, responsible AI use and stronger organisational preparedness.
Industry collaboration to strengthen digital security
The seminar underscored the need for sustained cooperation among telecommunications operators, regulators and technology partners to share knowledge, strengthen security practices and respond to emerging threats.
Through the initiative, JazzWorld reaffirmed its commitment to cybersecurity awareness, secure digital services and resilient network infrastructure.
The collaboration forms part of broader efforts to build a safer and more trusted digital ecosystem in Pakistan as the adoption of advanced technologies continues to expand.
