Karachi, March 8, 2025 – The weather in Karachi has taken a drastic turn, with hot and dry conditions prevailing, and a heatwave-like situation expected over the next few days.
Residents of Karachi should brace for rising temperatures as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted persistently high temperatures until at least March 12.
On Friday, March 7, 2025, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 37.5°C, which is 4.9°C above the historical average for March, according to the PMD. The weather in Karachi is expected to become even more intense over the weekend, with temperatures likely soaring to 38°C on both Saturday and Sunday.
Earlier this month, weather analyst Jawad Memon had predicted a significant drop in temperatures for coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan, including Karachi, during the month of Ramadan. However, the latest trends indicate that Karachi will continue to experience unseasonably warm weather in the coming days, making the heatwave conditions particularly challenging for residents.
Despite the daytime heat, the nighttime temperatures in Karachi are expected to provide some relief, dipping by two to three degrees Celsius. Weather experts predict that nighttime temperatures in Karachi will range between 13°C and 16°C. Meanwhile, central Sindh is expected to experience even cooler nights, with temperatures fluctuating between 10°C and 12°C, according to Memon.
Suburban areas of Karachi, such as Surjani Town, Scheme 33, and Steel Town, may also see nighttime lows between 10°C and 12°C. In contrast, neighborhoods like Federal B Area, Orangi Town, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal can anticipate temperatures ranging between 12°C and 15°C. These fluctuations in Karachi’s weather conditions highlight the ongoing seasonal transition.
Additionally, the weather analyst confirmed that winter has officially ended in the coastal regions of Sindh and Balochistan, including Karachi. As a result, Karachi will now experience a relatively stable temperature range of 17°C to 20°C. However, with the persistent heatwave-like weather gripping the city, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated in the challenging climate.
