Lahore, February 21, 2024 – In a thrilling encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi Kings emerged victorious against Peshawar Zalmi in the sixth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Karachi Kings showcased a stellar bowling performance to restrict Peshawar Zalmi to 154 runs all out in 19.5 overs.
Babar Azam, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, stood tall amid the collapse, contributing a commanding 75 runs off 51 balls. Rovman Powell also played a crucial role, adding 39 runs in just 25 balls. However, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to find stability, ultimately succumbing to the relentless bowling attack of Karachi Kings.
Mir Hamza, with a splendid display of skill, led the Karachi Kings’ bowling attack by claiming three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs. Hasan Ali equally shone, grabbing three wickets for 30 runs in 3.5 overs, leaving Peshawar Zalmi reeling at the end of their innings.
Chasing a target of 155 runs for victory, Karachi Kings displayed exceptional batting prowess as they reached the target in just 16.5 overs with seven wickets in hand. Kieron Pollard was the star performer, smashing 49 runs in a mere 21 balls, while James Vince remained unbeaten at 38 runs.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Luke Wood managed to take two wickets for 20 runs, briefly creating some tension for Karachi Kings. However, the steady partnership between Pollard and Vince ensured the Kings’ dominance throughout the chase.
In recognition of his outstanding bowling performance, Mir Hamza was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match. His crucial three-wicket haul played a pivotal role in dismantling Peshawar Zalmi’s batting lineup, setting the stage for Karachi Kings’ successful run chase.
