Islamabad, May 3, 2026 – Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that Karachi Port Trust continues to demonstrate strong operational performance, with Karachi Port cargo handling reaching 74,603 tonnes in the last 24 hours.
The minister highlighted that 19 vessels are scheduled to arrive at Karachi Port on Sunday, reflecting sustained maritime activity and trade flow.
Steady Vessel Movements at Karachi Port
According to the update, 14 vessels were berthed at the port as of Saturday morning, while seven ships sailed during the same period.
Expected arrivals include major container vessels such as OOCL Nagoya, APL Yangshan, MSC Taylor, Brooklyn Bridge, Ever Urban, and GFS Jade. Several general cargo ships and liquid cargo tankers are also scheduled to dock, indicating a diverse flow of goods and commodities.
Meanwhile, the vessel Spirit of Bertram is set to depart.
Cargo Breakdown Highlights Activity
The minister stated that Karachi Port handled a total of 74,603 metric tonnes of cargo over the past 24 hours.
Containerised cargo led operations with 45,171 tonnes, including 19,303 tonnes of imports and 25,868 tonnes of exports. Bulk cargo accounted for 11,944 tonnes, while clinker exports reached 6,114 tonnes. Liquid cargo handling stood at 10,352 tonnes.
Operational Efficiency and Trade Role
Among the berthed vessels were ships carrying lentils, rice, chemicals, and clinker, demonstrating the port’s role in handling both essential commodities and industrial materials.
Seven vessels departed during the reporting period, including container ships, tankers, and multipurpose carriers, reflecting efficient turnaround operations.
