Karachi Port Issues Shipping Movement for March 7, 2024

Karachi, March 7, 2024 – The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has issued the shipping movement report for Thursday, March 7, 2024, outlining the recent activities and cargo handling at one of Pakistan’s crucial maritime hubs.

The information aims to provide stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the shipping movements and cargo turnover, emphasizing the port’s role in facilitating international trade.

In the last 24 hours, ending at 0700 hours on Thursday, several ships were berthed and sailed from the Karachi Port. The ships berthed included M.T Mardan Clinkers, API Bhum Tanker, YM Excellence Container Ship, Grammy Brave Tanker, and M.T Quetta Fertilizer. On the other hand, ships that sailed included Carina, NH Erle, MSC Laurence, XT Dolphine, and Poavosa Wisdom.

The expected sailing dates for upcoming ships are as follows:

• Pacefic Horizon II on 06-03-2024 with D/5000 Chemical cargo

• M.T Shalamar on 07-03-2024 with D/72169 Crude Oil cargo

• M.T Lahore on 07-03-2024 with D/72300 Crude Oil cargo

• Cap Andreas on 07-03-2024 with D/L Container cargo

• Colombo Express on 07-03-2024 with D/L Container cargo

• Ever Uranus on 07-03-2024 with D/L Container cargo

• Eternity C on 07-03-2024 with D/16031 Chickpeas cargo

• Xing Pu Dong on 08-03-2024 with D/L Container cargo

• X-Press Pisces on 08-03-2024 with D/L Container cargo

• Xin Beijing on 08-03-2024 with D/L Container cargo

Regarding cargo handling turnover, the Karachi Port reported a total cargo of 160,004 Metric Tons in the last 24 hours. The breakdown revealed that the port handled 49,766 Metric Tons of export cargo and 110,238 Metric Tons of import cargo during this period.

The detailed commodity-wise handling in metric tons is as follows:

• Containerized Cargo: 57,971 (Import: 33,595, Export: 24,376)

• Break Bulk Cargo: 2,013 (Import: 1,859, Export: 154)

• Ammonium Sulphate: 1,208 (Import)

• Clinkers: 22,836 (Export)

• Lentils: 2,051 (Import)

• Wheat: 16,848 (Import)

• Oil/Liquid Cargo: 57,077 (Import: 54,048, Export: 2,400)
