Karachi expected to simmer under intense June heat as temperatures near 40°C, with extreme UV levels and heat index climbing to 46°C
Residents of Karachi should prepare for an intense spell of June heat, with temperatures expected to climb to 40°C in the coming days while the “feels like” temperature could soar to a scorching 46°C, according to forecasts by AccuWeather.
The financial and commercial capital of Pakistan is likely to experience predominantly sunny and hazy conditions throughout the week, accompanied by warm to hot southwesterly winds. Despite maximum temperatures ranging between 37°C and 40°C, humidity levels are expected to push the RealFeel® temperature between 43°C and 46°C, making outdoor conditions significantly more uncomfortable.
The heatwave is forecast to intensify gradually, with temperatures hovering around 37°C on Sunday before rising to 38°C from Monday through Wednesday. The hottest days are expected to be Thursday and Friday, when the mercury may touch 40°C.
Weather experts have also warned of very unhealthy ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels, with the UV Index expected to remain at 13, indicating a heightened risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure.
Authorities and health experts advise residents to limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, stay adequately hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, and use sun protection measures, especially for children, the age-old, and individuals with underlying health conditions.
With no rainfall expected and hazy sunshine dominating the city’s weather pattern, Karachiites may have to endure another challenging week of intense summer heat.
